The first Kosovo-Albania Math-Olympiads was held

Vushtrri, February16, 2020- Today, at the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS) was held the first Kosovo-Albania Math-Olympiads, for grades VII- IX. 


At the opening ceremony of the Olympiads was attended by General Director of the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety Mr.Ismail Smakiqi, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Haki Abazi, the Minister of Education, Science and Technology Mrs. Hykmete Bajrami, the Mayor of Vushtrri, Mr. Xhafer Tahiri, and representatives of the Kosovo Association of Mathematicians.


Speaking on behalf of the association, President of Kosovo Mathematicians Association Mr. Armend Shabani wished all participants success in the mathematics competition. "Dear students, today you are entering on a new challenge, try to take it more positively, to understand your journey for further advancement, in what people recognize as the science of numbers," said Mr. Shabani, wishing the students successful competitions.


The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Haki Abazi, wished the students success in the math-Olympiads competition. 


"The hopes we will return to knowledge, knowledge that you have and the math is the key part of knowledge," said Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Abazi, by wishing success to each contestant.


Whereas, Mrs. Hykmete Bajrami, Minister of Education Science and Technology, was happy to participate in the opening ceremony of the math Olympiads.

"With the work that we will do, you will achieve within a short period of time, to be where is supposed to be your place, just as you are participating in competitions in all countries of the world," said Mr. Bajrami congratulating the association for talent extraction in mathematics. Mrs.Bajrami said that "Kosovo has very talented students; we just shall create conditions for them". 


Mayor of Vushtrri Mr. Xhafer Tahiri wishes the students great results today and throughout their lives. Mr. Tahiri urged parents to feel proud of their children who participated in math competitions. 


General Director of the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety Mr. Ismail Smakiqi in his speech welcomed all participants, with special emphasis the students who participated in the math competition.

Mr. Smakiqi wished the students success in competitions, as well as success in their journey towards acquiring knowledge, so that in the future they will be the best not only in the region but in Europe and the world.




The Olympiads was organized by the Kosovo Mathematicians Association and the Albanian Math Association. The event was supported by the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety, the Municipality of Vushtrri, the Ministry of Education, and the Albanian-American company "ninety one".


In this competition had participated about 140 students, from all Albanian lands.
