At the academy started ten-week training “School of police staff and command"

Vushtrri, April 08, 2019 – Today, 42 officers and senior officials of Kosovo public safety agencies started the ten-week training of the School of Police Staff and Command.

At the opening ceremony of this training participated; Head of ICITAP program for Kosovo Mrs. Kimberley Riffe, Director General of Kosovo Police Mr. Rashit Qalaj, Director General of Kosovo Academy for Public Safety Mr.Ismail Smakiqi, Heads of Departments from KAPS and KP, Mrs. Remzije Ibrahimi ICITAP National Advisor for KAPS, as well as officials from the United States Embassy and ICITAP, who took care of the progress of this training.

The School for Police Staff and Command, which is held by the "Center for Public Safety of Northwestern University” this year is being held for the sixth time at the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety. Until now this school has attended and graduated more than 200 police officers and other public security agencies.
The School for Police Staff and Command, besides police officers from Kosovo Police, have been attended and completed by police officers from countries in the region; Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.

During this course, participants will attend the eight modules that assist senior officers and senior officials of public safety agencies in advancing their work and their organizations; Leadership, Allocation of Resources, Organizational Behavior, Traffic and Ethics, Budgeting, Decision Making, Project Management, Communication and Community Relations.

In her speech, ICITAP Kosovo Program Leader, Mrs. Kimmelley Riffe, expressed her satisfaction with the opportunity to support the Academy and the Public Safety Agencies by ICITAP. Addressing the staff of the School of Police Staff and Command, she encourages them to be active during training in order to benefit from this training by utilizing the acquired knowledge for the benefit of their organization.

Further on, the speech was by the Director General of Kosovo Academy for Public Safety, Ismail Smakiqi, who thanked the Embassy of the United States of America, ICITAP and the Instructor from the Center for Public Safety of Northwestern University Mr. Mike McGuigan.

Addressing the students Director Smakiqi further said:

"School for Police Staff and Command known as Training" SPSC” is the most important school or training for leading Kosovo Police staff and other public safety agencies. It is undoubtedly the most important specialized and advanced training that takes place at the Academy, certainly one of the most important trainings in the region where Kosovo is part of it. "

"During these ten-week of school you will attend, you will have the unique opportunity in your career to join the thousands of officers of the United States of America and some other countries of the world who attend this course by the Instructors of the" Center for Security Public of Northwestern University ".
Director General of Police Mr. Rashit Qalaj expresses his gratitude to the Kosovo Police for ICITAP and Northwestern University for organizing this training and thanked KAPS for the support it has always given to this important activity.

In addition to his speech, Director Qalaj congratulated participants of this training, who were selected due to their successes by encouraging and seeking to be more active during the training.

Director Qalaj further said that "the majority of police officers who attended this training took place today in managerial positions in the Kosovo Police".
