The academy was today visited by a delegation from the Iowa National Guard

Vushtrri, 27 June 2018 - General Director of Kosovo Academy for Public Safety Ismail Smakiqi hosted today a delegation from the Iowa National Guard of the United States, led by Major General Orr, who were also accompanied by senior ICITAP officials.

 Director Smakiqi after welcoming the delegation from Iowa, said he was pleased with their visit, and KAPS has very good relations with the US and thanks to the help of our friend state, USA, we continue cooperation today in various fields, in training of members of public safety at the Academy.

 Further during this meeting Director Smakiqi informed the delegation with the recent developments in the Academy as International Accreditation of the Academy by the United States International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training - IADLEST, as well as accreditation of the Academy by the National Qualifications Authority for professional programs as; New Police Officer, PIK Inspector, Customs Officers, Correctional Officers and Probation Officers.

 Director Smakiqi on this occasion also thanked ICITAP for the ongoing cooperation and support they are doing for the Academy. He also spoke about the international cooperation of the Academy with other local and international institutions such as the Association of European Police Colleges (AEPC), the International Association of Police Academies (INTERPA), the International Association of Standards Directors and the Law Enforcement Training (IADLEST) as well as the European Union Agency for the Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL).
 While Major General Orr expressed his open readiness for cooperation with the Academy in the field of advanced law enforcement trainings whether they are senior management positions of security institutions or even higher.
 
At the end, they visited one of the classes where the training was held for the Kosovo Police Lieutenant and Captain, as well as other accompanying facilities of the Academy where they were briefed from instructors about the practical part where law enforcement officials develop their training.
