American Congressman Eliot Engel visited Academy

Vushtrri, November 21st,  2017 - Kosovo Academy for Public Safety was visited today by US Congressman Eliot Engel, who was welcomed by Director of Department for Strategic Planning and Legal Affairs Shpend Shabani, Director of Department for Training and Educational Support Kastriot Jashari, Director of Department for Finance and General Services Rrahim Rexha, Lieutenant Colonel Driton Zabërgja as well as senior management of the Academy.


Director Shabani initially greeted US Congressman Eliot Engel on behalf of General Director Ismail Smakiqi, who is abroad, and on behalf of the whole staff of the Academy.


"We as the Academy are privileged to have among us to have our great friend of Kosovo, that with continuous contribution and support impacted to freedom and independence of our country," Shabani said.


He said that it is a pleasure for us today to present you an important public safety institution, such as the Academy, that is responsible for providing training and education for the officers of the Public Safety Agencies in the Republic of Kosovo.


In order to achieve the level at which the Academy is today, ut has gone through several stages of institutional building and development, Director Shabani said, adding that the development of the Academy is a very important success of building security and safety institutions in Kosovo and this development was achieved thanks to the continued support of the US through its Embassy, ICITAP, INL and other mechanisms present in Kosovo.

In the end, Director Shabani requested for this contribution to be further extended because the Academy needs the support of the US Embassy, ICITAP, INL and other mechanisms present in Kosovo.


Whereas Director of Training and Educational Support Kastriot Jashari, welcoming the attendees, he informed them with American contribution and donations to the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety.


"Honorable Congressman Eliot Engel, allow me to thank for the contribution of USA, US Embassy in Kosovo, ICITAP and INL in the field of public safety and security, whether there are trainings, donations or instructions, always as one of those who established KAPS, showing affinity and assistance, without what there could be freely said that it would not be possible to achieve the results we enjoy sot”, Jashari said. 


At the end of the meeting, the delegation was briefed from the instructors about the practical part where public safety officers conduct trainings. There were also demonstrated scenarios from the FATS system, a donation from the United States of America.
