Director Smakiqi official visit to Finland

Vushtrri, 25 September - Director General of the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS) Ismail Smakiqi, accompanied by the Dean of the Public Safety Faculty Bejtush Gashi and Head of the Foreign Relations Division Avni Istrefi visited the University College of Police in Finland. At the invitation of the College, the delegation of the Academy headed by Director Smakiqi during the three-day stay they had a study visit to Finland.

During this visit, a number of topics have been discussed concerning the improvement of education in the security sector, theme topics have been the exchange of experiences, presentation and acquaintance with the field of education (education) and activities in the field of research and development at the College University of Finland Police.
 
Director Smakiqi was hosted by the Director of KUPF (POLAMK) Mr. Kimmo Himberg, Krista Haak project leader of the member state and Vesa Muttilainen, leader of the third component of the twinning project for KAPS, which aims to further support education in public security in Kosovo.

During the meeting was discussed about the project's achievements as well as about the further activities planned to be developed at KAPS in terms of developing a new KAPS strategy, wherein is involved Kimmo Himberg as a short-term expert

The delegation from the Academy also met with the Head of Human Resources Development within the National Police of Finland Satu Koivu, Tiina Koivuniemi, teacher and training manager for "Senior Management", "Leaders of the Future" etc., Vesa Muttilainnen Chief For research as well as with other officials such as Pasi Kemppainen, Marjo Ritala and Marika Puputti from the field of international relations in POLAMK, with director Paula Ihalainen and with the manager at the University of Tamperes Technology (Edutech) Saila Leivo.
 
  During the visit, through various presentations, the KAPS delegation was briefed closely with the various development processes in POLAMK such as the police selection and recruitment process, the role and importance of POLAMK's independence, in this process as an single institution of education for Finland's police, higher education and research and development activities, innovations and their implementation in post-graduate education system at POLAMK for Finnish police, international cooperation and new opportunities of our institutions for cooperation in future.

On this occasion, the delegation from KAPS visited the University of Tamperes of Technology with which POLAMK had good cooperation where their work and cooperation in the field of trainings for senior management for potential leader for the Finnish police were presented.
 
It is worth noting that many experiences from KUPF experts have been and are part of the contribution to the first project as well as the second twinning project through which the Academy has benefited and still does.


KAPS delegation had the opportunity to meet with experts of the first twinning project, former project leader Antti Hȁikiö and former resident adviser Risto Honkonen.
